The Farm at Eastman’s Corner had their annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Five hundred members of the community — and Old Saint Nick himself attended this joyous event. One of the most heartwarming moments was when Santa, sitting in a chair and surrounded by dozens of children read a holiday story. Children then had the opportunity to tell Santa their Christmas wishes and get their photos taken with him. There was also gingerbread man decorating that was a big hit for both kids and adults alike.

Several of the Farm’s vendors were there, including Onesto Foods, Kensington Kettle, and Karimah’s Kitchen. They offered delicious samples and holiday food and cooking tips. The Farm had their own samples out as well and people enjoyed nibbling on wheat berry bread with honey cream cheese and the Farm’s famous meatballs.

As the sun began to set, the Open House wrapped up with caroling and the lighting of the Farm’s Christmas Tree. Jai Cotton, who just turned five years old the week before, had the honor of plugging in the lights. You can see the Christmas tree lit up on the Farm’s front lawn as you pass by at night.

This lively community event has become a new holiday tradition for Kensington.
