Eastman's Corner hosts Community Block Party

June 25, 2015

The Farm at Eastman’s Corner in Kensington, NH held its 3rd Anniversary Block Party on Saturday, June 6th from 3-8pm.  The event was free to the public and took place at 267 South Road, at the corner of Route 150 and Route 107 in Kensington. This celebration was an opportunity for neighbors, family and friends to get together and enjoy a day full of music, local food and fun activities. Over 200 people attended.

Beginning at 3pm, children’s musician Amy Conley played a selection of hilarious tunes combined with puppets and props.  Local farmers Chris and Holly Batchelder from Hidden Brook Farm offered tractor hay rides from 3-6pm.  The Kensington Fire Department was on site with their brand new truck and ambulance for children and parents to visit and learn about. There were also kids games and competitions, including a three-legged race, bean bag toss, water games and crafts.

More than 30 local vendors and organizations were there offering sample tastings, information sessions and entertainment.  The Kensington Recreation Committee delighted children with free face painting, Kensington Elementary School students sold lemonade for their school fundraiser, and the Southern District YMCA was there with their mobile rock wall, which was a huge hit. There were raffles, giveaways and surprises throughout the day.

There was always music playing, including the duo Edgartown from Amesbury, MA and local young singing talent Breanne Mullen.  There was plenty of good local food and drink. The local BBQ selection was popular, including grass-fed beef burgers, local pulled pork sandwiches, and sausages.  Vendors provided food, beer, wine and other beverage samples throughout the day.
