COMMUNITY GATHERS FOR ANNUAL WINTERFEST CELEBRATION IN KENSINGTON!
February 22, 2016
The Farm at Eastman’s Corner held their 2016 Winterfest on February 6 and it was a huge success. Mother Nature delivered eight inches of snow the day before so Saturday was the perfect winter day.
The event kicked off with an exclusive Loyalty Customer complimentary brunch at the Kensington Food Barn. Seventy-five of the Farm’s Loyalty Customers feasted on local freshly made frittata, french toast, sausage, fresh fruit and hot coffee. At 12 pm the festival officially began and guests started to arrive. By 1:30pm, three plus parking lots were full and cars were parked all the way down Route 150 from the Farm to Twin Lanterns ice cream.
Approximately 1500 people attended the event including community members, Farm vendors, employees, and volunteers. Highlights of the day were the lightning-fast sledding hill of fresh snow, the horse-drawn wagon rides and the Wildlife Encounters tent featuring a wallaby, a porcupine, a skunk and great horned owl. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests who were there celebrating the group’s 115th Anniversary. Guests could also test drive an electric car courtesy of Revision Energy. Children took advantage of free face painting in the tent outside and made an arctic fox to take home in the children’s craft area upstairs at Angela’s Café.
Singer-songwriter and Exeter resident Chad Verbeck entertained the crowd with his acoustic musical stylings while they enjoyed local homemade chili, grilled cheese or sausages from the outdoor food tent or toasted marshmallows by the fire. Local vendors provided free samples of their products including Harmon’s Clam Cakes, Smuttynose Beer, Karimah’s Kitchen, Downeast Cider, The Loaf and Ladle, Perfecta Wine, Kensington Kettle and Valverde Coffee.
And perhaps best of all, a reminder that 5% of all sales (that’s five cents of every dollar spent at the Farm) and 100% of the profits go to Sawyer Park in Kensington. Winterfest was a fun community event that supported the local community.
It was an amazing day and The Farm at Eastman’s Corner staff are already looking forward to their 3rd Annual Winterfest on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Other upcoming Farm festival events for 2016 include the Spring Art and Soul Festival on Sunday, May 22, 2016 and the Annual Anniversary Summer Block Party on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
